Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev plays the much saught after Elena Gilbert. Caught in the middle of two very different brothers, she finds herself wrapped in a shroud of mystery and secrets.

Nina Dobrev already had some credits under her belt before joining the cast of The Vampire Diaries. Her movie roles include those in "Chloe", "Never Cry Werewolf", "The American Mall", "Fugitive Pieces", and "Hearts of War", just to name a few. Besides her television role as Elena, she is well known for her character Mia on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Dobrev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria on January 09, 1989. Her birth name is Nina Const Dobreva. At the age of two she moved to Toronto and remained there until she persued her acting career in 2008. She currently lives in both Los Angeles, CA and Atlanta, GA.

Paul Wesley

Paul Wesley plays the peace seeking Stefan Salvatore, brother to fellow vampire Damon Salvatore. All Stefan is looking for is a "normal" life. The idea of living like a traditional vampire is not his taste. There is an unexplained attraction between Elena and Stefan and the two of them hit it off right away.

As far as movies go, Paul has played in "Beneath the Blue", "Elsewhere", "Killer Movie", and "Fallen". You may have also seen him on the television shows "24", "Army Wives", "CSI: NY", "Everwood", "Smallville" and "The O.C.".

Wesley was born in New Brunswick, NJ on July 23, 1982. He grew up in NJ and found an interest in acting at a summer arts program in third grade.

Ian Somerhalder

Ian Somerhalder plays the reckless Damon Salvatore. He is everything you would imagine a vampire would be: manipulative, ruthless, violent and unbelievably charming. Aside from catching the eye of Elena's friend Caroline, he is hell-bent on making Stefan live the way he does.

Aside from "The Vampire Diaries", Ian is most known for his role in "Lost" as Boone Carlyle. His big screen roles include, Josh in "Cradlewood", Daniel in "How To Make Love To A Woman"and Jack Kubiak in the TV movie "Lost City Raiders." Ian also has done some off-broadway shows as well as modeling.

Somerhalder was born in Covington, LA on December 8, 1978. He began modeling at 10 years old and has worked for giants like Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Versace and Guess?. He began studying acting at 17 in New York and was quickly discovered.

Steven R. McQueen

Steven R. McQueen plays the ever troubled Jeremy Gilbert, brother to Elena. He's having a hard time dealing with the loss of his parents, and has been using drugs to cope. His new habit has become quite the concern of his sister and new guardian. He has also grown feelings for Vicky, who is older than him. Tyler also has feelings for Vicky and this sparks a rivalry between the two.

Steven has had quite a few roles on television already. He played Kyle Hunter on "Everwood" as a music prodigy. He has also appeared on "Minuteman", "Numb3ers", "Without A Trace" and "CSI:Miami". You can also catch him in the movie Piranha 3-D.

McQueen was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 13, 1988.

Sara Canning

Sara Canning plays Jenna Sommers, the aunt/guardian of Elena and Jeremy. Jenna is new to the idea of being a "mom" and is having a hard time dealing with Jeremy.

Sara has played in quite a few movies including "Black Field", "Come Dance At My Wedding", "Taken in Broad Daylight" and "Black Rain". Aside from her recurring role on "The Vampire Diaries", she has made an appearance on both "Kyle XY" and "Smallville".

Canning was born in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada on July 14, 1987. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA.

Candice Accola

Candice Accola plays the manipulative Caroline. She's got quite the thing for Damon and learns that he is a vampire quite early on. Damon seems to use and abuse her as he sees fit.

Candice has made appearances on "Supernatural" and "How I Met Your Mother". As far as the big screen goes, she's worked on "The Truth About Angels", "Kingshighway" and a small role in "Juno". She is also a singer and was a background singer in Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert and Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Accola was born in Orlando, FL on May 13, 1987. She currently lives in Atlanta, GA where "The Vampire Diaries" is filmed.

Katerina Graham

Katerina Graham plays Bonnie Bennett, the psychic and best friend of Elena. Bonnie finds out she comes from a long line of witches, but does not believe it's possible to have psychic abilites. This is until she starts having premonitions.

Katerina already had a booming career before she came to "The Vampire Diaries". She has been in the movies "The Parent Trap", "Hell On Earth", "Our First Christmas", "17 Again", "Boogie Town", "Bleachers", "The Roommate", and "Chicago Pulaski Jones". In addition to movies she has been seen on "Hannah Montana", "CSI", "Greek", and "Grounded For Life". Aside from her acting career, she also contributed vocals to Will I. Am's album, and was a background dancer for Missy Elliot, The Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell, and Jamie Foxx. Oh, and did we mention she speaks four languages?!

Graham was born in Geneva, Switzerland on September 5, 1989. Her grandfather was a United Nations Ambassador from Liberia and her father was a music executive.

Zach Roerig

Zach Roerig plays Matt Donovan, the all star athlete and ex-boyfriend of Elena. He's also the brother to the unpredictable Vicki.

Zach has played on a few day-time soaps including "As The World Turns" and "One Life To Live". On the big screen you can catch him in "Dear Me", "Assassination of A High School President" and "Strawberry Wine".

Roerig was born in Montpelier, Ohio on February 22, 1985. He was bit by the acting bug in high school and often commuted to Cleveland for training. After graduation, Zach moved to New York to further persue his acting career. He was quickly discovered and received a role in "As The World Turns" where he landed a two year contract. He currently resides in Atlanta, GA where "The Vampire Diaries" is filmed.

Kayla Ewell

Kayla Ewell plays Vicki Donovan, small town girl and sister of Matt. She finds herself caught between both Damon and Stefan and Jeremy and Tyler. After being turned into a vampire by Damon, Vicki got a stake through the heart in episode 7 of the first season.

Kayla has had lead roles in "Fired Up!", "Impact Point" and "Senior Skip Day". She also had a recurring role on "The Bold and The Beautiful".

Ewell was born in Long Beach, California on August 27, 1985. Aside from acting she likes surfing, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and dancing.

Michael Trevino

Michael Trevino plays Tyler Lockwood, an arrogant young man who has taken a liking to Vicki.

On the small screen, Michael has played in "The Riches", "Cane", and "90210". On the big screen, he's played in "The Factory", "Love Finds A Home", and "Austin Golden Hour."

Trevino was born in Valencia, California on January 25, 1985.
