Earlier in the week we learned that not only are there vampires and witches in Mystic Falls, but soon there will be a
werewolf!
In case you're a stranger to the mythology, a werewolf is a human that shape shifts into a wolf or wolf-like animal. This can happen one of three ways: conscientiously, being scratched or bitten by another werewolf, or through a curse. Here's the catch, according to the lore, the transformation can only occur during a full moon. However, werewolves are granted both super human strength and senses. Sounds like a pretty good gig - you know, aside from being turned into a giant wolf.
So, the question we're all pondering, aside from
what's the deal with Bonnie's necklace?, is
who's going to play the big bad werewolf?. Let's meet the contenders.
The rest of this article contains spoilers – please read further with caution.
For one thing, we already know it's going to be one of the leading male characters and they are not aware they can turn into a giant wolf every full moon. We also know that the CW's storyline for the werewolf is not going to follow the book's, so that scratches Tyler off the list. As much as I'd
like to believe a vampire could also be a werewolf – it would just make no sense to make it Stefan or Damon. That leaves us with Matt and Jeremy.
Matt
Matt's your all around high school athlete. He's also the brother of temporary vampire Vicki. Matt's been struggling with the antics of his sister and his break up with Elena for awhile now.
What would make him a good choice?
The fact that his overall demeanor doesn't exactly fit the traditional werewolf profile. He's really a sweet, helpful guy. It would be rather unexpected and at the very least, make him a more prominent character. We don't really know all that much about him aside from the above description. The bigger question would be, how would he turn into this hairy beast? Maybe the recent comet turned him into a werewolf?
Jeremy
Jeremy is Elena little brother and he's been having a hard time getting past the death of his parents. Before the disappearance of Vicki, Jeremy regularly used drugs. After witnessing her tragic demise, Damon "took away his suffering". Since then he's been happy as a clam and studious too. Did Damon do more than take his suffering?
Most obvious choice?
Sure, he probably is. He still has a bit of a reputation for doing drugs and his fights with Tyler are an obvious sign he has anger issues. Because he's Elena's brother it would make for some interesting story lines and could possibly pin her between the three.
Now that you've met the contenders, who do you think it is?
